Our family history

We’ve been shaping the London skyline for almost 50 years and are
now one of the most experienced building façade specialists in the UK.

1976
Colorminium was founded by Derek Price and Ian Price, his son.  Manufacturing windows for the domestic market, focusing their client base on North London.
1981
James Price joined the family business with a background in mechanical engineering.  His skills helped streamline the manufacturing processes and push the boundaries of what could be achieved.
1982
We had the opportunity to bring coloured aluminium profiles into the UK and were the first company to offer this. This led to our change in name to Colorminium.
1987
The business continued to evolve and develop – making the strategic decision to move into the commercial sector.  Focusing on the more complex glazed facades for premium offices, hotels and institutional buildings.
1997
General management transitioned to Roscoe Price, Ian’s son, with Ian retaining a consultative capacity.
2000
The factory moved from North London to Essex into a purpose-built facility including up-to-date CNC machinery and a high-tech material management system.
2010
In response to a growing market demand for a full envelope offering, the factory was becoming a constraint to being able to offer a broader range of solutions. We commenced a rigorous selection process to agree partnering relationships with preferred fabrication partners.
2014
Following establishment of our new agile fabrication business partnering approach across Europe, the production facility in Essex closes.
2017
Sold our premises in Westcliff and moved to Saxon House and shortly after commenced our 1st off-site installation project of windows into pre-cast.
2020
Following the tragedy at Grenfell and subsequent requests from the Ministry of Housing to help – (“Envoy”) was formed, a cladding remediation delivery model as a principal contractor.
2021
Growing client requests for greater insights, increased confidence and more control over principle design decisions pre-planning, led the business to formally offer our Optimisation & Confidence approach to the wider marketplace
2022
Colorminium unveil their new brand London’s Façade Strategist to the market aligning more with the value clients are realising and experiencing through adopting our unique offerings.
